Beginning June 4, both Colorado Highway (CO) 257 and the shoofly diversion structure will close for several weeks to allow crews to remove the shoofly and complete the new bridge on CO 257. The shoofly was successfully used to maintain live traffic on CO 257 during construction, allowing crews to work on CO 60 and CO 257 at the same time, cutting three months off the construction time. The closure of CO 257 will begin at the bridge over the Little Thompson River and continue south to Colorado Highway 60. Access will be available for businesses between CO 60 and the bridge on CO 257. Closure of the roadway is necessary to allow crews to safely complete the bridge, including installation of guard rail, bridge deck, tying into the roadway, paving and striping.CDOT’s suggested detour from CO 257 is to take CR 52 west to CR 17, CR 17 south to CR 50, west on CR 50 to CR 13 and then south to CO 60.Please be aware that flaggers and construction crews will be working in close proximity to traffic flow. Please keep their safety, as well as your own, in mind when travelling through the construction zone.
