Johnstown, CO - May 19, 2020 -- During the Town Council Meeting on Monday night, the Town of Johnstown Town Council determined that it was in the best interest of the community to remove the barriers on public parks after weeks of caution on account of COVID-19. This is the first decision made in an effort to begin opening the Town back up.
The Town recommends that residents use their best judgement in utilizing park spaces in line with the guidance of the State Safer-at-Home order as equipment will not be sterilized. Activities such as running, biking, walking, frisbee and other open space games appear safe to engage in at this time. When using Town park facilities, it is highly encouraged to continue to observe 6 feet social distancing requirements, avoiding large groups/congregating, sanitizing and cleaning public tables and staying home if sick.
As a reminder, general preventative measures remain important: wash hands frequently, maintain a distance of 6 feet from others and do not congregate, wear a mask (if medically able) when going out in public, clean/sanitize frequently touched surfaces, and avoid leaving the home if sick.
